S0062 CITY OF HUDSON - A sidewheel passenger steamer, built at Mystic Bridge, CT in 1863. She was very typical of the wooden hulled steamers in New York waters in the second half of the 19th century. This view is looking south from the Brooklyn Bridge and shows two other similar steamers. In the foreground is the IDLEWILD and the MORRISANIA in the background. Notice that large sailing ships still dominate the Manhattan wharves at this time.
